BioNanoNet Forschungsgesellschaft mbH
BioNanoNet Forschungsgesellschaft mbH (BNN) is an Austrian-based, non-profit research organization and scientific network that focuses on the intersection of biotechnology, nanotechnology, and sustainable innovation. Operating as a key facilitator within the European high-tech ecosystem, BNN serves as a bridge between scientific researchers, industrial partners, and regulatory bodies.
The organization primarily provides end-to-end solutions for product development, focusing on safety, sustainability, technological resilience, and regulatory readiness. A major pillar of their work is the implementation of Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) strategies, ensuring that advanced materials and nanotechnology-driven products are engineered to be safe for both human health and the environment from the very beginning. By managing large collaborative research networks and participating in major European projects, BNN helps universities and companies turn innovative, sustainable concepts into compliant, market-ready realities.
Within iLCA4SSbD, BNN leads the "Capacity building & training" tasks, and will support on stakeholder engagement, identifying synergies and knowledge transfer opportunities. It will also support on the design of the iLCA4SSbD platform’s interface, as well as on the valorisation and cross-disciplinary activities of the project.
